![]() ![]() Make sure to re-select the default Startup Disk in System Preferences. I have seen replacement Logic Boards act very oddly until these resets are performed. Hold the PRAM Reset for at least two chimes (three if possible), but later models will only allow one or two chimes unfortunately. I highly recommend performing an SMC Reset and a PRAM Reset if this is an Intel Mac. It is hard to say whether the firmware differences will result in performance issues. You can either install macOS over top of itself or you can install macOS to an external drive (you will need to change the Startup Security Settings to allow booting from USB). You need to install macOS again (same version you were using before or newer) in order to upgrade the system firmware to the same version as the old board. When Apple replaced a Logic Board the board only contains the original firmware and OS which shipped from the factory. I know from past experience that if a part is not available, that Apple will replace it with a better part (faster item or larger memory/storage). The paperwork with the repaired laptops mentioned something like "use new parts or like new parts which perform similar to the originals" (just paraphrasing since I don't have the paperwork in front of me). We just received a couple laptops back from Apple from a mail-in repair.
